Secondary Curriculum
The core subjects in KS4 are English Language and Mathematics for all learners. The individual pathways
- Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Additional Mathematics, Information Communication Technology and any other relevant subject.
- Art and Humanities: History, Literature, French Language, Sociology, Religious studies and any other relevant subject.
- Business/Commercial: Economics, Financial Accounting, Business Studies, Information Technology.
The Grenville brand provides a British-Based education programme with a blend of the Nigerian curriculum. We operate within the directives of the Lagos State Ministry of Education.
In line with the British education structure, learners encounter two clear stages in their learning experience. These are: Key Stage 3(Year 7, 8 and 9) and Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11). These are called Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School respectively in the Nigerian experience.
At KS3, all learners will experience a wide and well-balanced curriculum covering the following focused subject areas; English language, Mathematics, Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), Information and Communication Technology, Business Studies, French Language, Arabic, Yoruba, Geography, History, Art & Design, Design and Technology and Music. All these are a blend of British and Nigerian curricula.
Year 9 is an exam class divided into two parts. The first part terminates with the checkpoint examination while the second part introduces them to the diversity of subjects that will start them off on their individual career path in KS4 after due consultation with the Counseling department.
There are also provisions for learners who may be interested in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)-conducted examination called West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). This takes place in Year 12. There are four main pathways in this regard. Students are expected to offer a minimum of eight subjects relevant to their proposed career path.
A number of our students also undertake extra studies for JAMB, SAT and TOFL examinations. These are matriculation examinations into Nigerian and Foreign universities.
As each student prepares for the future after the Grenville experience, the educational and moral foundations they have been equipped with ensures that they can transit easily to higher institutions around the world.
